LiveWall — Support
LiveWall plays your videos as the desktop wallpaper on your Mac. If something is not working,
this page is the fastest way through it.
What it needs
macOS 14 Sonoma or later, on Apple Silicon or Intel, and videos in MP4, MOV or M4V (H.264 or
HEVC). The free version plays the first three enabled videos of the playlist on one display;
LiveWall Pro, a one-time purchase, plays the whole playlist on every display.
Common questions
- The wallpaper does not move.
-
Open the Energy tab: when one of its settings is holding the wallpaper — a full-screen app or
a window that fills the display, the battery, or Low Power Mode — the line at its foot says
which, and playback carries on as soon as that ends. Otherwise press Space:
playback may simply be paused.
- The wallpaper is on the wrong display.
-
Open the Displays tab. Auto uses your second display; pick a display by name instead,
or All displays to cover every screen.
- A video is missing from the rotation.
-
Check that its switch in the playlist is on. In the free version only the first three enabled
videos rotate — the playlist marks where the limit falls. A video whose file was moved or
deleted says File not found; add it again from its new place.
- A video will not add.
-
LiveWall plays what macOS can play: MP4, MOV and M4V with H.264 or HEVC video. Other formats
(WebM, MKV, AVI) need converting first.
- I bought Pro on another Mac.
-
Use Restore purchase in the window, signed in with the same Apple Account. Pro is
shared with your family through Family Sharing too.
- Closing the window stopped nothing.
-
That is on purpose: the wallpaper keeps playing with the window closed. LiveWall stays in the
menu bar; quit it from there to stop the wallpaper.
